1st Google Meet: Tuesday March 31st @ 1:00pm
Please have your child join me for a Google Meet (aka video Google Hangout) on Tuesday March 31st and 1:00pm. In these unusual learning times, it is important we try to stay connected and stay in touch so we can chat with our 3D friends. Students can check their emails for an invitation from me to MEET for our video chat. Looking forward to saying hello and chatting on Tuesday.

Great news! I have added FRENCH books to your child's Raz Kids reading accounts. When you open the Reading Room, you will see that students now have access to a large variety of French books levelled aa-zz. Students are free to read any book in this French collection as well as their English books as well.

Let's Stay in Touch :)
Hi Everyone!
During this unusual time, it is important that we try to stay connected and chat with one another about what we've been up to while staying at home. Below is a writing task that I encourage all students to do at home on a Padlet I created so we can keep in touch.
Please post on the Padlet the following information:
1. A picture of what you are up to
2. Share what you have been doing to keep busy while at home
3. Any feelings or thoughts you want to share with the class.
4. Students are free to add comments or reply to any of the posts. Let's try to have some virtual conversations :)

March Break Update
Dear Parents, March 13, 2020
In light of the school closures after March Break students are encouraged to
practice skills at home over the next few weeks. Please visit any of our online platforms:
mrsciampaclass.blogspot.ca Our class Twitter: @MrsCiampaClass
ON THE BLOG: I have a wide variety of Math and Science wonder links that students can
use at home to explore their inquiries or continue to practice their skills that they’ve
learned in class. A few students have taken upon themselves to explore their own inquiries
at home by creating a Google Slide Deck and sharing it with me. I have also posted links to
class work we have done in class, including a working PADLET that students can use to
share what they wonder or have learned about structures in Science or Math so far.
Here are some educational app and website recommendations.
Many can be found on the student portal:
Literacy:
|
Numeracy:
|
There are many other ways to practice skills with your children over the break.
We encourage reading books daily both independently and with a parent on
Raz Kids or any other book of choice.
SCIENCE: A reminder that students should return to school with completed research
for their famous structures assignment and may continue to look for cool facts to include
for their final project over the break.
MATH: When we return from the break, students will have a brief review of 3D shapes,
before our final assessment on Geometry. The next unit of math that we will be
starting once students return is Multiplication followed by Money.
Yours in Education,
Mrs. Ciampa
What we Know - Wonder - Learn About Structures!
What do we already KNOW, WONDER and what have we LEARNED about strong and stable structures? We have been using this Padlet to share our ideas and update as we experiment, research and complete our various STEM challenges. Have a look at what we've done so far, and please feel free to read and post over the break from home! If you are eager to learn more, please visit any of our Wonder Websites to add to our learning on the Padlet below.

Geometry Games to Try At Home
The following are some shape games students can try at home to further practice what they have learned in class. We are currently working to use tangrams to show us how to identify shapes that are CONGRUENT (the same size and shape). These tangram activities really help as they demonstrate how stacking, flipping, turning and sliding shapes can help determine congruence.
